Student Marketplace App Hazaar launches at London’s Fashion Retail Academy

Hazaar, the student marketplace app that allows students to buy and sell second-hand items cheaper and more conveniently launched at Fashion Retail Academy this week.

The launch will allow students at Fashion Retail Academy to buy and sell their second hand items including clothes and accessories to other students directly on campus, at cheaper prices and with the environment in mind.

Students don’t need to worry about posting an item and avoid single use plastic packaging due to the requirement to meet up in person and hand over the items.

Students at FRA can sign up to the app with their student email address in which they are automatically filtered into the FRA marketplace. They can then browse a selection of items from their peers and view upcoming pop-up market events being held at their institution.

“FRA are the first institution that we’ve expanded to since our initial launch in September and we’re extremely excited for students to gain access to Hazaar. It’s been great working with the student experience team at FRA to discover how Hazaar can make a positive impact to their students.”

We’ve found that students want more options at their university when it comes to sustainability and student experience, with the Hazaar app and powered by Hazaar offering a solution.

Hazaar will be powering regular pop-up markets, known at FRA as “FRAckets” which provide students the opportunity to buy and sell their items in person on campus without the hassle and allowing for safe and secure transactions at events, giving confidence that payments and students are protected.

Pop Up markets give students the chance to declutter their wardrobes, refresh their wardrobes with items new-to-them, earn some extra money and meet new students within their community. At previous institutions Hazaar have even helped students launch their small businesses, giving them a platform to reach new audiences.

Students at FRA are already engaging with the app, with lots of positive feedback so far. Anais Dumrez—Ryley from the FRA student experience team says “Here at the FRA we are so excited to have partnered with Hazaar, allowing our students to buy and sell in a safe and sustainable way. Not only can our students now exchange their purchases on campus creating that feel good community spirit whilst saving time and money on postage and packaging, Hazaar are also powering our FRAcket events where small business owners who currently study at the FRA have the opportunity to market their products with the support of this app. Super excited to see where this collaboration can take us."

Stay tuned for more information on the first FRAcket.
